Region 2 Teaching, Learning and Technology Center

Region 2 TLTC offers courses in St. Tammany and East Baton Rouge Parish, as well as outreach workshops in each district.  All classes are free of charge and open to public and private school educators in the following school districts: Central Community, City of Baker, City of Bogalusa, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Washington, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, and Zachary Community.

Mission Statement

 

Our mission is to provide support and training opportunities for all Region 2 educators by modeling the effective use of educational technology. Through professional development opportunities, educators and learners will be trained using Louisiana State Technology Initiatives. Our role is to improve teacher quality and enhance student achievement.

State Initiative Opportunities

LaTEL is Louisiana’s customized implementation of the Intel® Teach Program. The training includes a 1 ½ day face-to-face plus 5-weeks online course that is designed to help teachers deliver more engaging, personal, and dynamic activities to students by connecting with the LA Comprehensive Curriculum with activities that focus on 21st Century Skills.

Effective Technology Integration (ETI) Through Regional Teaching, Learning and Technology Center’s educator’s can enroll in Effective Technology Integration courses. ETI includes six, one-hour long, engaging multimedia modules on best practices for integrating technology into the classroom. Participants learn modules at their own pace.

Proficiency Express, an interactive, technology rich, online professional development initiative, is designed to provide participants with basic technology proficiency skills as they apply them in the development of instructional classroom resources. This twelve week technology professional development can be delivered completely online, or in an online/face-to-face format.

LILI is a project designed to assist librarians in transforming their school library to meet the needs of the students of the 21st Century. The LILI Initiative, which consists of three and half days of face-to-face training, will use the Louisiana Information Literacy Model for Lifelong Learning as a tool for teaching information and technology skills.

Science Probeware Workshop:

Science Probeware Workshop is professional development designed to assist science teachers in the implementation of  probeware to enhance lessons in the Comprehensive Curriculum. Probeware involves the use of probes, sensors, interfaces, and software to collect real-time data on physical phenomena such as sound, light, and temperature. Participants who successfully complete the course will be eligible to borrow probeware for use in their classrooms during the school year.
